Whale Beach Tote

A while back I had bought a pack of these plain canvas tote bags.  I used two of them up, but had one left over.  It was just waiting for me to find the perfect project!  Here it was, a beach tote!  It turned out so cute, I think I might actually make each of the kids their own.  The whale gives it a nice summery feel.

For the process of making this, I started out by using painters tape to create the aqua stripes.  Place the tape on your bag and use fabric paint to fill in the exposed fabric.  I had this adorable image of a whale on my silhouette software and thought it would work perfect for a summery beach bag.  I used the design as a stencil and filled it in with fabric paint.  
Like I said, it turned out so cute, I think I have to make two more for the other kids.  Maybe a flamingo,  and an anchor?  Cute, right?
